Jason P. Lowery's MIT thesis Softwar: A Novel Theory on Power Projection and the National Strategic Significance of Bitcoin is a major declared influence on Bruce Barone's Bitcoin and urban-planning work. Lowery proposes a power-projection interpretation of proof of work; Civic Bitcoin uses that proposition to generate questions about property, custody, energy, public cost, and conflict.
The Bitcoin protocol supplies the narrower technical foundation: hash-based proof of work orders transactions and makes alteration of the accumulated record require redoing the work. That protocol fact does not prove an urban outcome.
